eBooks, Audiobooks

OverDrive is the our most popular eBook and Audiobook service. You can read or listen to books through the OverDrive website or Libby App

Hoopla has a limited selection of eBooks and Audiobooks and a great selection of graphic novels/comic books. It also offers movie, television show and music streaming. Usually, users can only enjoy six titles per month through Hoopla. However, Hoopla has opened up a catalogue of more than 1,000 eBooks, Audiobooks and more to be enjoyed without limitations.

Cantook Station offers thousands of French eBooks and Audiobooks available to read and listen to on a desktop, through the Aldiko Next app or on a compatible eReader. Log in with your Library card number and four digit pin to borrow up to seven titles per month and place three holds per month. Use Cantook Station on your computer. Use Cantook Station through the Aldiko Next app on Apple devices and Android devices


Digital Magazines and Newspapers

PressReader allows you to read the latest editions of more than 6,000 newspapers and magazines for free with your Library membership. Just visit the PressReader website or app, choose "Sign In' and then the "Library or Group" option to sign up with your library card. Note, you will need to re-sign in every 30-days to maintain the free access.

OverDrive and its Libby app has more than 2,500 magazines that you can download on demand.

Movie, Television and Music Streaming

Hoopla has several North American and International movies and television shows available to stream on your computer or on a tablet or phone. It also offers music streaming. Usually, users can only enjoy six titles per month through Hoopla. However, Hoopla has opened up a catalogue of more than 1,000 eBooks, Audiobooks and more to be enjoyed without limitations.

Freegal allows library members to stream up to six hours of music a day and download up to five songs a week. 


Online Learning

LinkedIn Learning has replaced Lynda.com with all your prior learning transferred to the new platform.

LinkedIn Learning offers more than 16,000 on-demand video tutorials in seven different languages. These videos can be accessed on a computer or through the LinkedIn Learning app on your smartphone or tablet. You will log in to the service using your library card number and four-digit PIN. 

If you want to use the LinkedIn Learning app, it's best to log in first on a desktop or laptop.
Then, when using the app for the first time, you will be required to enter the Library ID. This Library ID is brantfordlibrary (all one word and all lower case). So, the entire Library ID will appear as "www.linkedin.com/learning-login/go/brantfordlibrary." Then, log in with your library card number and PIN.

Universal Class offers more than 500 online continuing education training courses for those interested in professional or personal growth.

Transparent Language offers the most comprehensive language-learning solution for individuals. With this flexible program, you can quickly and easily learn new languages using a wide variety of courses and activities.

G1.ca is a free driver education program where you can access G1 practice tests for cars, M1 practice tests for motorcycles as well as car and motorcycle test simulators. Also get access to a FAQ section with detailed answers to over 100 MTO related questions.


Research Databases

EBSCOhost offers several databases on a range of topics beyond traditional research databases. Sign in with your Library card number.

Proquest is a database that provides access to scholarly journals, books, historical newspapers - including the full text of the Toronto Star and Globe and Mail - and more.

Grant Connect is a robust online database for not-for-profits seeking funding.

To access Grant Connect, you must be using the Library's WiFi or a public computer terminal at either the Main or St. Paul Branch. Once you click the link to go to Grant Connect, simply click "log in" to begin using the database. 


Children's Resources

Tumblebook Library has several eBooks and read-alongs for children.

Along with the public, teachers and educators in both the Grand Erie and Brant Haldimand Catholic school boards can also access this service for free with the links below.

Teen BookCloud has several eBooks and Audiobooks geared specifically to teens.


Local History and Ancestry.com

Ancestry.com Library Edition is only available while using a library computer or WiFi. 
Use this Ancestry link to access Ancestry.com.

The Your History section of the Library's website features several databases and tools, including: 

  • A Birth, Marriage, Death Index
  • A local Digital Archive 
  • Links to Genealogy resources
  • Several maps with information on historically significant local events and monuments
  • An online War Memorial Search featuring everyone listed in the Album of Honour
