Williams, Ross Colmer

On January 17, 1944, Pte. Ross Colmer Williams was reported missing in action following that epic Battle of Ortona in Italy and as late as the end of 1945, his wife and son, John, 270 Wellington Street, had no official word of his burial place. Pte, Williams enlisted in November, 1942, and after training in Toronto, Simcoe, Ont., and Valcartier, Quebec, he went overseas in May, 1943, to become a member of the Perth Regiment of Canada. The son of Mrs. Mary Josephine Williams, he had lived on the Burford Road most of his life and after his school years, was employed as a machinist at Waterous Limited.
