Hart, Richard

Pte. Richard Hart lost his life near Cassino, Italy, on May 22, 1944, while in action with the British 8th Army. He had enlisted on August 13, 1942, and for a time was trained in the Transport Division but was transferred to the West Nova Scotia Regiment. After six months training at Cornwall and Camp Borden, Pte. Hart was posted for overseas duty and for more than a year was in England, before going into action in Italy. He was buried at Cassino. Born in Brantford, December 14, 1913, the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Hart, 20 Leonard St., Pte. Hart attended Dufferin School. He was employed at the Slingsby Manufacturing Company and was a member of the factory's hockey team. He attended St. Paul's Church.
