Mason, Dudley Herbert

Sto. 1/C Dudley Herbert Mason lost his life on March 26, 1941, when, with the rest of his crew, he was forced to leave his flame-swept ship, the H.M.C.S. Otto, while on duty off the coast of Halifax. The furious waves of the Atlantic at that time caused the lifeboat in which he had taken refuge, to capsize. Coming from England as a small boy, with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Mason, Dudley attended Paris Public Schools and Brantford Collegiate and was an employee of Penmans Limited at the time of enlistment. He was 31 years of age and the first casualty to be reported in Paris. He was married to Patricia Taverner and had three children, Barbara, Robert and Donald.
