English, Vernon W.

Pte. Vernon W. English died September 5, 1944, of wounds received in the August previous, while serving as a dispatch rider with the Canadians at the first battle of Lorento. The son of Mrs. Louise English, and the late Edward English, he was born in Paris, December 9, 1919, and received his education in the Paris schools. He was active in sporting circles playing hockey and lacrosse. One of the first to enlist, Vernon joined the Perth Regiment in September, 1939, and went overseas in September, 1941. He was married to the former Isabel Foster, of Barrie, and has a young son whom he has never seen. One brother, Thomas, served with the R.C.A.F., and another brother, William, with the Army.
