Franklin, Norman Henry

Cpl. Norman Henry Franklin, second son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Franklin, St. George Road, was reported missing in action at St. Lamberts, Sur d'lves, on August 20, 1944, while serving with his unit, the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders in Normandy. His family has an official report that he is buried at Bretteville, France. Born in Togo, Saskatchewan, on March 7, 1922, he came to the St. George district with his family after he had completed his education. He enlisted with the Canadian Army on July 12, 1940, when he was 18 years of age, and served in Jamaica and England and was in the invasion of Normandy on D-Day, June 6, 1944. His record of gallantry and courage is held in proud and loving memory by his family and friends.
