Avedesian, James Theodore

Sgt. James Theodore Avedesian, son of Mrs. Manig Avedesian, 30 Buffalo St., lost his life in air operations on July 30, 1942. He had enlisted in the R.C.A.F. and received his wireless badge on October 1, 1941, in a graduation parade at No. 2 Wireless School, Calgary. On November 10, he received his gunner's badge at No. 3 Bombing and Gunnery School, Macdonald, Man. He was then posted overseas, where he hoped to find his friend, F/O Alex Zatonski, who had left Brantford just before the beginning of the war

to join the Royal Air Force. But the two boys never met, as F/O Zatonski was killed in action in December, 1941. Born in Brantford, November 18, 1917, James attended Central School and while there was an officer in the Skylark Club. He went on to the Collegiate Institute.
