Barrett, Bernard N.

Pte. Bernard N. Barrett, son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Barrett of Paris, and the eldest of a family of ten, was killed in action in Sicily, July 22, 1943, and buried there in the All Canadian Cemetery. Joining the armed forces in May, 1941, at the age of 19, he went overseas in June of the same year with the Lorne Scots and fought in the Sicilian Campaign. An extremely popular boy, "Buddy" (as he was known), centered his interests in the activities of the Sacred Heart Church and School. He was fond of hockey and tennis and while convalescing from a knee injury, acquired an interest in stamp collecting. One sister, Christina, was a member of the C.W.A.C.
