Thompson, Thomas Walter

Sgt. Thomas Walter Thompson, son of Mr. and Mrs. T. C. Thompson, 120 Terrace Hill St., lost his life when the R.C.A.F. aircraft in which he was rear gunner crashed on a bombing raid at Weilmunster, 16 miles south-west of Giessen, in Western Germany on December 21, 1943. Sgt. Thompson had been overseas since June, after training at Burtch and Lachine and graduating from the Mont Joli School in Quebec. For official purposes he was presumed dead on November 20, 1944. Born at Shellard's Lane, Brantford, April 22, 1910, Thomas attended Public School and was also a member of the United Church. Growing up, he led an exceedingly active life and particularly enjoyed outdoor sports such as hunting and tennis. Canada Ltd. Sgt. Thompson, after moving to Brantford, made many friends here, particularly in Masonic circles, being a member of Trent Lodge, Blenheim.
