Saturday Share - May 16
Welcome to the Saturday Share! Each week the Brantford Public Library team is sharing some of their favourite links from the past week. You’ll find links to ideas, apps, movies, tutorials and books and more that we’ve loved!
This week we’ve looked for links that help us to connect with others, explore new hobbies and rediscover some of our favourite things in interesting ways!
- Do you love dogs? They always make me smile. The CIA spy dogs are not only adorable but talented secret agents. Read their stories, learn about their training and even download their trading cards loaded with delightful facts about each dog. While you’re there, explore the rest of the site for more spy stories and games. - Amy
- With extracurricular activities cancelled and unseasonable weather, we’ve been looking for ways to keep active inside. I’ve found that yoga is a great way to find focus in the morning or burn off energy in the afternoon and it’s great for any age. Cosmic Kids Yoga is a fun and accessible introduction to yoga for kids. Well-loved stories like Frozen guide kids through a series of yoga poses, adding some physical activity to screen time. - Cassandra
- Explore virtual museums, zoos and aquariums. Take one of these virtual field trips that are fun for the whole family! - Alana
- Abracadabra! I’ve always wanted to learn some simple, impressive magic tricks, and now that I have an audience of people at home, I found some great tricks here, and dazzled everyone! All I needed was a deck of cards, a marker and a bit of practice! Try these tricks out for yourself and let us know if your family was just as dazzled and awe-struck! Which was your favourite? - Kim
- I love picture books and find what makes them so engaging is the relationship between the text and the images. I was so excited when I discovered the Art of the Picture Book this week, a website celebrating this unique art form. It features a collection of interviews with writers and illustrators that give you a glimpse into the making of a picture book. If you are an at home artist, maker or even admirer of beautiful books I definitely recommend you check it out! - Anna
- Interested in creating an artistic word cloud but lack the graphic design knowledge? Fear not - Wordart.com is here to help! I recommend this website because it enables you to customize a beautiful card for any occasion using words, shapes, fonts and colour in a variety of different layouts. Celebrate birthdays, holidays and other special events with this fun online tool. In addition, you can use Word Cloud to simply create some unique artwork for your home. - Liana

Weekly topics include social isolation concerns, lactation & feeding, anxiety, self-care and many more.
