Saturday Share - July 11
Welcome to the Saturday Share! Every other week the Brantford Public Library team is sharing some of their favourite links from the past week. You’ll find links to ideas, apps, tutorials and books and more that we’ve loved!
This week’s roundup is full of summer fun including how to make your own ice cream, a craft to bring Main Street Disneyland to life in your home and a celebration of female changemakers! We hope these links brighten your already hot and sunny days!
- I just discovered that I can download and colour pictures of every province and territory in Canada, thanks to artists that have come together to produce CBC’s "Great Canadian Colouring Book". Find all the pictures on this website from CBC, where they invite you to share your pictures in your window and online! Now we can all colour our way across Canada! Can you find the hidden CBC logo in the Ontario page? Let us know! - Kim
- July is National Ice Cream Month, and when my family and I wanted to learn more about making our own ice cream, we found this amazing and free online class from ChefSteps! With a free account, you can learn everything from how to make soft serve ice cream, dairy-free, and even high-tech ice cream! They even show you how to make toppings such as sea foam powder, and malted peanuts! Join today and celebrate with ice cream all month! - Kim
- Creative kids can exercise their brain and stretch their imaginations every week with author Jason Reynolds. On Fridays at 1:30pm, Reynolds hosts “Brain Yoga” a game that challenges kids to reimagine everyday objects into amazing inventions. Check out his Instagram page to watch past events and to join in on Fridays. (A public account is needed to interact live, but anyone can watch!) - Cassandra
- If you are missing a trip to a theme park this summer, you can bring the fun home with a papercraft from Disney Parks. Colour, cut, and assemble Main Street Disneyland and rolling parade floats featuring your favourite characters. - Cassandra
- Join this inspirational 3 day online summit to unite girls around the world. Here’s an opportunity to hear inspirational changemakers like Michelle Obama, Duchess Meghan Markle, Nadia Murad and more! From July 13-15. - Alana
