Together for Families Supporting Literacy Event Details

Drop in to the free Together for Families Supporting Literacy event to learn about programs and services offered in the Brantford/Brant area that can support families - specifically with children between the ages of 0-12. The event is presented by the Best Start Network.

The free event will feature:

  • Nearly 30 information booths from local organizations that support children and families (primarily aimed at children 0-12)
  • hands-on activities for children, including face painting
  • an author talks from a children author
  • 10-minute presentations on important local services
  • Door prizes

Event Information

When: Thursday, February 22 from 4-7 p.m.

Location:  Brantford Public Library Main Branch (173 Colborne Street Brantford)

Free Parking:  At the Parkade (59 Icomm Dr.)

Transportation: Please email if you require bus tickets to support transportation.

Interpreter support at the event: Please email if you require an interpreter at the event and note what language.

Child-Minding: Will be provided at no charge at the event by Conestoga ECE students and Wee Watch Staff.


Attendees are welcome to bring non-perishable food items to the event, which will be given to the Brantford Food Bank.


Presentation Information

Presentations will be held in the third-floor auditorium at the Main Branch


  • Top 10 Tips for dealing with Challenging Behaviors presented by Kelly and Debbie from EarlyOn
  • Tips for Transitioning to Kindergarten-2 School Boards
  • Circle of Security - Presented by Child and Family Services of Grand Erie and Lansdowne CC
  • Caring for your Anxious Child - Presented Julie Pilon of Woodview Mental Health and Autism
  • Parents can find out about local sports registration information in the computer lab and visit with the support of Parks and Recreation staff Brantford Sports Council staff
Author Reading and Activities with Erica London 

Author Erica London will do a reading for families at 5:30 p.m. Then, after the reading, Erica will lead a family-friendly activity.

The author reading will be held in the children's area of the Main Branch.

About the Best Start Network

This free event is hosted by the Best Start Network, which has members that represent Education, Public health, Special needs resource organization, Mental Health and Autism, Recreation, Early Learning and Childcare, Boys and Girls Club and Libraries.
